Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of the services we offer!
You'll also find our standard rates, along with an estimate of how long each service typically takes. Keep in mind, times may vary depending on the specifics of your situation.
Most of these services are for residential, seasonal, and business users. However, a few are exclusive to businesses and will be noted as such.
Additionally, please note the rates below do NOT include travel time (the time it takes us to commute from our location to yours). For standard jobs, we bill $45/hr for most locations. For emergency jobs (see below), we bill $65/hr
Hardware Support
Keep your devices in check with our services: assistance in setting up new devices, hardware recommendations, out-of-warranty repair services, and facilitation of in-warranty repairs.
All hardware repairs come with a 90-day warranty from us. If something goes wrong within that period for a related issue, we'll do everything we can to fix it!
For OEM parts (such as laptop motherboards, or most Apple parts). We try to use original parts where we can. However, sometimes third-party parts may be used. We'll be sure to let you know if parts are original, or third party, where we can.
Repair Rates

Diagnostic Fee: $25 flat rate
Covers up to 30 minutes of expert troubleshooting to identify the root cause. This is due whether or not you go forward with the repair
This is a flat rate.
Active College students and non-profit businesses are not charged this fee. Please show us evidence of either of these statuses to have it deferred. -
Repair Labor: $75/hour
This is the cost of labor for installing parts, or resolving the issue -
Parts & Materials: Billed separately.
You are responsible for the cost of any replacement components. We’ll always confirm pricing before proceeding. -
Estimated Repair Time: Typically, 1–2 hours (+diagnostic)
Most issues are resolved within this window, but we’ll provide a clear estimate after diagnosis.
NOTE: We are unable to service newer Apple (Mac) devices, smartphones, and some other types of devices due to the lack of repairability on these company's part. We can try to facilitate support for you. But we cannot guarantee success for these devices.
Software Support
For non-physical issues, we offer general software support, collaborate with support companies on your behalf, provide software upgrades, assist with setting up new software, and offer tailored software recommendations. This can be done either onsite or remotely, depending on your preference and the issue itself.

Outage Preparation
It's no secret that Internet and Power, especially on the Trails can be unpredictable. Sudden power outages, brown outs, and dirty power can harm the longetivty of your devices.
Additionally, with the lack of Cell Coverage on the Trails, losing Internet can be problematic as its our primary communication source.
Let us help! We'll assist in picking out, installing, and maintaining UPS Systems (and other power backup systems) for your devices.

IOT and Smart Home
We offer setup assistance for smart home devices, tailored recommendations based on your space and goals, and troubleshooting for connectivity, automation, and app integration issues. Whether you're installing a single smart thermostat or building out a full home automation suite, we’re here to make it seamless.

Security Systems

Security cameras, alarms, and other security systems have become essential in today’s world. Whether for your home or business, we’re here to help ensure your property is protected from break-ins, wild animals, and unexpected events. Let us assist you in finding and installing the best equipment to keep you, your visitors, and your property safe.

Time can vary a lot depending on the specifics of your setup. However, most smaller deployments take about 2-4 hours. We'll try to provide a better quote when we get details of your deployment!

Additionally, you are responsible for the cost of the cameras, NVRs, etc. For cloud deployments, this includes the recurring cost of any related subscription.
E-Waste Management
We value reuse, and recycling. E-waste is among the worst problems for the environment, and hardware availability. We want to help fix that. We will load up, take, clean, and donate your devices on your behalf to be repaired and reused, or recycled properly.
Some devices may still be very usable and can be used by Short Bit Services for local use, such as a donor device, or employee device. These will have their Hard Drives (or SSDs) destroyed, replaced, and then reused.
Other devices will be loaded up and taken to our partners to manage. We take all devices by load to Free Geek in Minneapolis for them to find a new home.
The best part? This service is free. We value this issue so much, that we won't charge a cent for this service. We will swing by as available and grab you load for you!
Please note we do this service as available. Generally, we can't guarantee a schedule as we do this as we're in your area. Call for details!
Remote Management and Monitoring (RMM)
Whether you're tired of surprise updates disrupting your workflow, concerned about aging devices quietly failing, or simply want your systems to run smoothly without constant oversight, we're here to help. We can assist in patching your programs and operating systems on a more consistent basis, avoid bad updates, and monitor your hardwares health.

Break/Fix
We provide long-term "break/fix" support for those seeking a more consistent service. Each job is a per-incident event but billed as a collective. This is more of your traditional "Multi-Service Provider" solution. This solution looks a bit different for each company, but we're happy to find what works for you!

This service is exclusive to businesses.
Large Projects
Trying to complete a large email or server migration? Looking for a really specific solution to a problem? Looking for a general improvement? Whatever the project is, we'll work with you to figure out a proper solution.
Rates:

Varies heavily depending on the specifics of the project. However generally this will fall between $125 and $140 an hour. Before any work is done, we'll be sure to give you a better number once we have all the details!!!

Emergency Services
Outages are never enjoyable. For any job requiring same-day service or work outside of business hours, we charge the rates listed above plus $40/hour.
On holidays, its an additional $60/hr.
Note, we only recommend emergency services for:

Home users unable to work from their property due to an internet outage or a broken device.

Business users whose systems are down, preventing them from taking payments or functioning, and who need immediate assistance.

Critical security events.
